Path to Foreman

As a Landscape Technician preparing for a Foreman role, you will take on advanced responsibilities, from managing irrigation systems to leading job site crews. You'll have the opportunity to shape your team, contribute to project planning, and deliver exceptional results on projects ranging from $5,000 to over $500,000.

Job Information

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the installation of landscaping elements, including planting, grading, mulching, and lawn care.

  • Take ownership of irrigation system installation, troubleshooting, and efficiency improvements.

  • Oversee and contribute to hardscaping, outdoor lighting, and decorative concrete projects.

  • Collaborate in reading, interpreting, and implementing detailed plans and designs.

  • Mentor and train crew members while maintaining a safe, organized, and efficient job site.

Ideal Candidate:

Education:

  • A degree in landscape design or a related field is highly preferred.

 

Experience:

  • Demonstrated experience in landscaping with a focus on irrigation systems.

  • Prior leadership experience in landscaping or construction is a strong plus.

 

Skills:

  • Advanced knowledge of plants suited for Zones 3–5.

  • Proficiency in operating equipment like skid steers and excavators (training available if needed).

  • Strong communication, organizational, and leadership abilities.

Personal Attributes:

  • Reliable, detail-oriented, and driven to grow in a leadership capacity.

Requirements:

  • Physically capable of lifting 50+ pounds and working outdoors in various weather conditions.

  • Reliable personal transportation and an insurable driving record for use of company vehicles.

  • Authorization to work in the United States.

  • Compliance with Scapes Inc. policies, including professional appearance, workplace behavior, and safety standards.

Workplace Expectations:

  • Tattoos must not be offensive, sexual, violent, vulgar, or profane; no face tattoos are allowed.

  • Minimal and safe piercings; gauges and hazardous jewelry are not permitted.

  • Zero-tolerance policy for drugs, alcohol, and smoking during work hours. Periodic and random testing may be conducted.

  • Professionalism and respect are non-negotiable; no cursing or inappropriate behavior on job sites.
